Komšić: They ruined our children's lives

We all have only one goal, and that goal is the future of this country and those who come after us, said DF president Željko Komšić after today's joint session of the main boards of SDP and DF in Sarajevo, writes Patria.

However, his main message from that gathering that he wanted to be heard was: "Nationalist parties have ruined the lives of our children".

The president of the Social Democratic Party of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, and Željko Komšić, president of the Democratic Front, signed the Framework Plan for Joint Action for the General Elections in 2018 at the joint session of the Main Boards of the two parties. 

This Plan states, among other things, that the two parties have a common vision for Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on joint action to realize common values and cooperation with other political parties and organizations, the academic community, and civil society organizations.

"The years in BiH have never been worse from the war until today. We are losing hope. We feel unease, fear, but not so much from conflicts, but fear for the future, fear of what will happen to our children," said Komšić.

"Our task is to restore hope to the people in BiH. We know what BiH should be like, and that is the opposite of what we have today. And today we have a country of conflicts and fears," said Komšić. He also said that SDP and DF have started creating a left-wing bloc of parties that will offer citizens of this country hope and a better Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no doubt that the top leadership of the political parties reached this agreement, and now, he said, he expects rapprochement and work on joint programs at all other levels of the parties to begin. He called on citizens to join them.

"People do not expect us only to come and remove those who are currently in power. People want hope. And we can do that. We have enough smart, we have enough brave people who will enter this political battle. The only question is whether we want to? Do we want to restore hope to people? Nikšić and I have known each other for a long time. There is trust between us. But others must also feel that. And I feel that there is that energy," Komšić said.

He said that the goal of joint action is not his candidacy for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, nor for Nikšić to be prime minister. The goal, Komšić said, is to drive the nationalist parties from power, which have led the country to an abyss, and the citizens of all nationalities into a state of fear. 

"If the same ones remain in power in 2018, you will ruin our lives," Komšić concluded, reports Patria.
