(Patria) - With the adoption of the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica at the United Nations General Assembly, a point has been put on a multi-decade process that began with indictments for genocide, continued with the pronouncement of final verdicts by international courts, and today finally concluded with the adoption of the Resolution at the United Nations, said Željko Komšić, member of the BiH Presidency.
"This has achieved political consensus at the global level, following the legal consensus expressed through the verdicts of the court established by the United Nations, regarding the genocide committed in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically in Srebrenica. The opinions of those who stand outside the achieved legal and political consensus are not relevant at all.
This is also an opportunity for the survivors of genocide to turn a new page in their lives, and to live their lives with their heads held high, proudly and with dignity, in their own homes, in their own country, as victors over the criminals who are now rotting in prisons. This is also an opportunity for all those who have social and political responsibility for the committed genocide in their name, to build a new relationship towards this fact, a relationship that would be in line with what is civilized, if they wish themselves well.
As for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, despite the nervousness and nonsensical behavior of some officials from the smaller entity who are not particularly important at this historical moment for history or anything else, despite their ridiculous announcements of catastrophe, Bosnia and Herzegovina is emerging stronger from all of this, and that is what is most important, because a strong Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only guarantee that the genocide that was committed can no longer be repeated. In that strength lies our victory," said Komšić.
