Komšić: Whatever they say in Belgrade, it will not affect BiH, it remains a unified country

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić today spoke about the meeting of delegations of the BiH entity Republika Srpska and Serbia, which he said is "the same old story that gets recycled year after year".

"Whatever they talk about and decide, I can tell you with certainty that it will not affect BiH in the way they might want. Bosnia and Herzegovina remains a unified country and will survive despite the challenges and all those who seek its downfall. So, whatever they say in Belgrade, it will have no effect on the integrity of BiH and our determination," said Komšić.

Komšić emphasized that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will do everything to lobby among the Non-Aligned Movement countries not to vote for the Srebrenica resolution.

"As someone who has seen that resolution, I must point out that there is nothing problematic in it. From the aspect of what is written and what is requested there, the resolution is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide next year. There is nothing in it aimed against anyone in the entire world. I think that what they are doing is a kind of propaganda campaign, and everything Vučić announces as difficult days for the Serbian people and dangers to Serbia, citing the adoption of the resolution, is actually the most ordinary spin and political game," the BiH Presidency member explained to reporters today.

He underscored that, from the perspective of politics and international relations, the fact is that there is nothing controversial in the resolution; rather, it is about the need to commemorate the genocide worldwide, because everything that happened in June 1995 was a "planetary slap in the face" to the international community. He notes that insisting on defeating the resolution speaks only of a kind of paranoia.

Asked about the deployment of additional international troops in BiH, Komšić said these are EUFOR troops.

"I don't know where the information comes from that it is about NATO engagement. It is not bad that additional EUFOR forces are stationed at this moment, especially if the political hysteria in BiH continues. Remember that recently there was a threat that the border exists, so people went out to the entity line, and now they do not recognize what the High Representative has done," said Komšić.

He said it is good that EUFOR soldiers are there, "but honestly, in case of any trouble, I would not rely much on those forces. It is the same as relying on UNPROFOR in 1994 and 1995," said Komšić.
