Komšić discusses sanctions with Bosnian representatives in the Bundestag

(Patria) - Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić met in Stuttgart with long-time representative of the Social Democratic Party in the German Bundestag and MEP Josip Juratović, and young politician of Bosnian origin Adis Ahmetović, who has also been a member of the Bundestag from this party since this year.

The interlocutors exchanged views on the current political situation in Europe and the world, and how these policies reflect on the countries of the Western Balkans. Chairman Komšić stated that he expects understanding and a dialogue partner from the new German government regarding the political situation in BiH.

The double standards of the international community regarding events in BiH were assessed as detrimental, and it was emphasized that negotiations on the future of our country must urgently return to institutions.

They discussed modalities of sanctions against individuals who are intensively working on undermining the constitutional order and dismantling the state, and it was stressed that it is now up to the prosecutor's office and the court to put an end to separatist policies.

They also discussed the 14 key priorities from the European Commission Opinion, which the interlocutors agreed is a very important and historic document for BiH, and that it is necessary for the international community to insist on the implementation of this document without compromise, despite pressures from certain circles within Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The interlocutors clearly emphasized that the EU is expected to communicate with BiH the same standards that apply in their own countries, such as the protection of human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
