Komšić receives President of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) Damon Wilson

(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić received Damon Wilson, President of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), an independent and non-profit foundation of the United States of America, which cooperates with local and international partners by providing support to projects that strengthen democracy, human rights and the rule of law in more than a hundred countries worldwide.

The focus of the interlocutors' discussion was on strengthening democratic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the strategy for improving civil society, and the role that international organizations like NED can play in that process.

Speaking about the current political situation in our country and the state of democracy, Presidency member Komšić emphasized the importance of improving respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, the right to opinion and freedom of expression, the importance of independent media, transparency and the fight against corruption. In that context, he particularly stressed that for Bosnia and Herzegovina, membership in NATO and the European Union is of great importance for the stability and democratic progress of the country.

It was agreed that work will be done on new initiatives and projects aimed at further strengthening democratic values and private entrepreneurship in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the United States of America.
