(Patria) - Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić spoke with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo. Komšić welcomed DiCarlo and thanked her for the visit at a time when the 30th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in the UN "Safe Zone" of Srebrenica is being marked.
Member of the BiH Presidency Komšić expressed gratitude to DiCarlo for her personal engagement and support for the UN General Assembly adopting the resolution last May, which declared July 11th as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica.
He also thanked the UN and their office in Bosnia and Herzegovina for their continuous engagement in the process of reconciliation and confronting the past in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić emphasized that there can be no reconciliation without truth, which must be insisted upon, no matter how difficult it may be, because if it is left to politicking, there is a danger of poisoning future generations.
The meeting discussed the current political and security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the aim of stabilizing it in the interest of the country and all its citizens and peoples.
Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić stressed that it is necessary to emerge from the current political crisis in which Bosnia and Herzegovina finds itself as soon as possible, and in his opinion, the problems facing Bosnia and Herzegovina must be resolved by actors in our country, respecting institutional frameworks, the rule of law, and democratic principles.
UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo said she hopes that the existing political problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be overcome, expressing the readiness of the UN, the office of this international organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and herself personally to help in this, especially when it comes to confronting the past and the reconciliation process.
On behalf of the Member of the BiH Presidency Denis Bećirović, the meeting was attended by the head of his cabinet, Alija Kožljak.
