Komšić: I call on Dodik and Čović to stop treating Serbs and Croats like cattle

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić reacted to Milorad Dodik's announcement about the drafting of a declaration by HDZ and SNSD on the withdrawal of the two peoples from BiH, if the principle of "constituent peoples" continues to be questioned based on the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights and a civic organization of BiH is demanded.

As Komšić stated, the implementation of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights inevitably leads to the definition of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a civic state, N1 reports.

"Our commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina as a civic state is fully correlated with these rulings. The fact that Dodik and Čović do not like these rulings, because they have different visions, is not our problem but theirs, and they do not have a problem with us but with European and civilizational values. Their eventual declarations do not bind anyone to anything, nor are they exclusive representatives of Serbs and Croats," said the member of the BiH Presidency from the Croat people.

Komšić called on Dodik and Čović to stop "treating Serbs and Croats like cattle," whom they think they can lead in and out of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

"The last time some had illusions that peoples could be led from one state to another, the whole thing ended tragically. It is also sad that 25 years later, Dodik and Čović are advocates of such policies," Komšić concluded.

We remind you that Dodik said in an interview for "Večernji list" that "the civic state is a fatal option and a deception that Bosniaks are pushing onto Serbs and Croats, because it could never exist in these regions."

"Alija and Bakir Izetbegović's Party advocates for a civic organization. I don't understand who they can deceive. On the other hand, Croats and Serbs insist on the constituent peoples and parity from Dayton, unless we agree otherwise. Now you have one people who want the realization of the civic narrative, and the other two peoples do not want it, these are Serbs and Croats," stated Dodik.

If this is insisted upon, Dodik added, representatives of these two peoples will probably adopt a joint declaration and seek to leave BiH because their rights guaranteed by the Constitution and the Dayton Peace Agreement are being challenged.
