Komšić: Encouraging messages from EU officials about rejecting the system of constituent peoples

(Patria) - Presidency member Željko Komšić assessed that the messages from the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe regarding the rejection of the system based on the so-called constituent peoples, which have been sent in recent days by Christophe Poirel, head of the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe, are of historic significance.
 
„I fully agree with the message of the head of the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe that it is time for Bosnia and Herzegovina to move to a different, modern system in which there is no discrimination and which is not based on constituent peoples,“ Komšić stated.
 
„In this regard, I also share the view of European officials that the system designed on constituent peoples is the main obstacle, related to the constitutional framework, in implementing the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, as explicitly stated in the judgments of that same court,“ Komšić added.
 
„Messages from European officials, such as those from the head of the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe, have particular significance for the entire discussion concerning amendments to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A modern system that is not based on the so-called principle of constituent peoples, as European officials speak of, is nothing other than a system of a civic state,“ Komšić concluded.
