Komšić responds to Grabar-Kitarović: We will defend the state despite the buses you are sending

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - I call on the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to oppose the political aggression of the Republic of Croatia in the elections, by people from the Croatian Parliament and the President of the Republic of Croatia, said today the President of DF and candidate for member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić.

- We see that Mr. Ljubić from the Croatian Parliament is calling for mobilisation, again deceiving the public with platitudes about how the Constitution of BiH provides for the election of so-called legitimate representatives. First of all, the qualification “legitimate representative of the people” is completely unconstitutional. Elections in BiH are conducted according to the existing Constitution and existing rules, which Dragan Čović, the favourite of part of official Zagreb, accepted with his candidacy in these, as well as in previous elections, and thus fully recognised them - says Komšić.

Komšić also commented on the incorrect claims about Croatia as a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, which Kolinda Grabar Kitarović made in response to Komšić, while stating that she will continue to interfere in the internal affairs of BiH. Komšić emphasises that Croatia is not a guarantor of the Dayton Agreement, but a party deeply involved in the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- By signing the General Framework Agreement for Peace, the Republic of Croatia assumed certain obligations. Among other things, it committed to full respect for sovereign equality and to avoid any activities directed against the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and accepted to promote and respect the obligations arising from Annex 4, i.e. the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Agreement was signed by the then Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the then Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Republic of Croatia. The European Union, the French Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, the Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States of America were witness countries - emphasises Komšić.

He states that from this position it is clear that Serbia (then Yugoslavia), as well as Croatia, are only signatories to the Dayton Agreement, and as participants in the war against BiH.

- With this signature, Croatia committed to cease activities directed against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but did not gain the right to interfere in the internal affairs of our country, a right it wishes to arrogate to itself by insisting on a non-existent role as a “guarantor” of the agreement - said Komšić.

- Madam President, we kindly ask you to stop meddling in the internal affairs of our country. None of us would dream of meddling in your affairs and relations. None of us comment on how you, “Captain Dragan” and “Vaso” are trying to “politically behead your party boss” and with whom you have been making arrangements about that. Those are your matters and your relations, and it is not our place to interfere, especially not in the way you interfere in relations in our country.

He added that he advocates for the equality of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- That advocacy is a European standard. Let the President of Croatia show us at least one country in the European Union where the principle of one person, one vote is not in force. That principle is also in force in Croatia. It will be in Bosnia and Herzegovina, sooner or later. We will fight for it and we will never give up. Ethnic or representation of peoples is not a European and civic principle, that is clear to everyone, including people in the Croatian Parliament, but also the President of Croatia. If they think that the principle of dictatorship of a political minority over the majority will prevail, they are mistaken. The entire democratic world does not allow that, so we will not allow it either in Bosnia and Herzegovina, no matter how much some in Zagreb think that one group of BiH citizens is less valuable than another - said Komšić.

Komšić believes that the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will defend themselves against the political aggression of Croatia.

- We know they are preparing buses for weekend voters, but we are not few either. Sometimes tanks, today buses, that time has passed, we were not afraid then, we are not afraid now. Let us go to the polls and defend the state - concluded Komšić.
