Komšić on negotiations in Neum: HDZ defeated itself, they lack the capacity to understand mistakes

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Chairman of the BiH Presidency and leader of the Democratic Front, Željko Komšić, commented today on the concluded negotiations in Neum, stating that he believes a more radical policy from HDZ should now be expected, as they cannot come to terms with the defeat they have largely inflicted upon themselves.

"I do not see that they have the democratic capacity to recognize their own mistakes, nor do these mistakes need to be explained to them," Komšić told Hayat.ba.

He emphasizes that the political consensus among pro-Bosnian parties is commendable.

"On the other hand, the political consensus among pro-Bosnian parties regarding the order of priorities in this entire process is commendable: first, the reduction of the House of Peoples, and why not its abolition based on the Venice Commission's recommendation, and only then a discussion about the election of members of the BiH Presidency, based on the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, so that all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of their ethnic affiliation, can elect and be elected," said Komšić.

He added that Bakir Izetbegović remained consistent and principled in the positions and attitudes they had previously discussed.

"It seems that such a position has crystallized in recent months. Furthermore, it is noticeable that Izetbegović has remained consistent and principled in the positions and attitudes we have previously discussed," Komšić stated.
