Komšić: I don't see why there's a fuss about dr. Cerić's candidacy

For the upcoming General Elections to be held on October 12th for all levels of government, Željko Komšić's party, Democratic Front (DF), has also registered. The candidate for the BiH Presidency is still unknown, and the DF Presidency will decide on this next week, confirmed Željko Komšić, president of DF and Croatian member of the BiH Presidency, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

- The only thing certain so far is that Slavko Matanović is the DF candidate for the President-Vice President of RS - Komšić said.

He also commented on the candidacy of dr. Mustafa Cerić for the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency, stating that he has the right to do so according to the BiH Constitution and the Election Law.

- I don't see at all why there's such a fuss about this candidacy. Citizen Mustafa Cerić has that right because the BiH Constitution and the Election Law grant it to him. I personally disagree with many of his political views that he expressed while he was the reis-ul-ulema. I simply have no right to comment on his work as a religious leader. That is a matter for believers, Muslims, not for Željko Komšić. What views he will express and advocate in his campaign remains to be seen - Komšić stated.

The Democratic Front has most strongly condemned the brutal physical attack on the professor of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Mostar, Slavo Kukić, who sustained injuries on Monday and is undergoing hospital treatment.

- Whatever the investigation shows, whether it was an attack by an individual or an organized attack, the fact is that we can freely speak of political motives. The perpetrator himself actually confirmed this with his confession. Knowing what kind of country and society we live in, the perpetrator or perpetrators are sending a message not only to Slavo Kukić, but to all those who dare to think and speak contrary to what is pleasing to the wartime and post-war elites of all kinds who have managed to create a completely wrong value system. If it can even be called a "value system". These "values" imply that all those who oppose them and still dare to speak about it are immediately, publicly or even tacitly, defined as enemies of the collective, group, nation, "higher interests", etc., and that they should be eliminated by all means. Initially with fists and clubs, later with pistols, rifles and bombs, then by imprisonment in places where "work liberates" and finally in crematoria. Does that sound familiar? - Komšić asks, adding that in "this country of ours, unfortunately, on all sides, there are many places that resemble 'Professor Kukić's office', and imagine how many 'Kukićs' there are that we never even hear about", reports NAP.
