(Patria) - At the invitation of the Association of Veterans and Patriots of the Army of RBiH and the Ministry of Interior of RBiH New York, member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić attended the celebration of the 32nd anniversary of the formation of the Army of RBiH.
Komšić addressed those present on that occasion, stating that he had come to New York on other business, but that it was an honor to attend the gathering. He also congratulated the Day of the Army of RBiH to all its members as well as to the members of the Ministry of Interior of RBiH.
- It is important that the story of what happened is passed on to children. We know what happened, but if we do not talk about the struggle of the Army of BiH, not to boast, but about what it meant, how important it was for the survival of BiH, for the survival of the people, for the survival of all those who see that country as their own, but if we do not pass that love on to future generations, all of that will be lost, and it will be swept away by the dust of history.
Time passes and someone must continue to carry that idea. We succeeded in one task that was historically set before our generation, to defend our homeland, to defend the achieved independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Komšić.
- Whatever Bosnia and Herzegovina is like, and I am sure that those who fought did not imagine it would be as it is today, and a thousand and one objections can be made, I ask you to always keep in mind, it is our homeland, we have it, we have a state.
The state is not given forever, there are many enemies circling the state who would gladly finish what they failed to achieve with blood, tanks, cannons, including genocide, they would gladly finish it today in peace.
That is why I say it is important that the story is passed on, so that our children, if nothing else, have that passion within them when we talk about Bosnia and Herzegovina.
I am sure that Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot perish, and do you know why? Because there are always many more who will defend it, even with their lives, than those who want to destroy it.
One of those struggles is taking place right now at the UN. It is a struggle for the truth, so that what happened in July 1995 in Srebrenica is not forgotten. It is a human struggle that has nothing to do with politics but has to do with morality and our homeland.

We have every human right to be proud of the Day of the Army and everything it means. At least it means to me. It is something that has marked me for the rest of my life, and I am not ashamed but proud, and I always say, God forbid, in the same situation, tomorrow I would act the same again - concluded Komšić.
