Komšić: Konaković's motive for attacking Patria is to defend Schmidt and Croatia's policy!

(Patria) - BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić addressed the Intelligence Security Agency of BiH after statements and accusations made public by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, that the Constitutional Court of BiH is being undermined by structures that are collaborators of the Serbian BIA within BiH institutions. In this context, he stated that these people are close to Željko Komšić as well.

„After that statement, I requested information from OSA. I have attached that statement for them to provide me with information on whether it is true or not. If it is true, let them do their job, if it is not true, let us tell the public that it is not true. What the motive for such a statement is, that is another matter. I have requested official information from those who are authorized by our laws,” Komšić said.

When asked by the host of Jutro za sve, Zvonko Komšić, what Konaković's motive was for such serious claims that cannot remain unexplained, the BiH Presidency member said:

„I agree. He later elaborated on that statement and attacked Patria, or NAP, from which it is clear who he is targeting. He mentioned one name, and when targeting NAP, there is another name, what I reproach him for is that he did not inform the competent authorities about it. Why didn't he inform the Prosecutor's Office, SIPA, OSA, to do their job. But I don't think the motive was that at all, to clarify something, to make it public, or to bring it to an end.

The motive was a kind of attempt to defend Schmidt and his policy, to defend Croatian policy in BiH, and to defend his own policy which is precisely along those lines.

That was the motive and an attempt, so to speak, to throw a political bomb into the public space and to entertain ourselves with it, as we have. Today we are dealing with it, the media are dealing with it, now OSA will deal with this request. What will come out of this story and what the information possessed by the intelligence service, whose job it is precisely, will show, we will see,” Komšić said.

Komšić also commented on the actions of the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt, in the case of Slaven Kovačević, and next month Schmidt will address the court in Strasbourg. When asked if Schmidt is doing this to weaken the appellants' chances, Komšić said:

„Yes, precisely. You can see a coordinated action by official Zagreb, diplomacy, I believe also the Croatian intelligence service, their proxies in the form of HDZ here and the entire circle around HDZ in BiH, Schmidt, who is a proven promoter of such views and such policy, and his reason is precisely to try to overturn the Kovačević verdict, citing the reason that it could cause terrible political problems in BiH,” Komšić said.

The BiH Presidency member stated that correcting injustice and fighting for human rights cannot destabilize the situation anywhere.

„These are facts. How can facts destabilize the situation, whether you like them or not. There are institutions that set the rules, and in this case, it is the Court in Strasbourg. If it is necessary to further show that we are not all the same in this country regarding active and passive voting rights, then I can say that we are blind,” Komšić said.

If the Kovačević verdict falls, it will be a significant blow to the civic structure of BiH.

„Previous verdicts remain, but the fall of this verdict will push those verdicts into the background, and anyone who embarks on the path of amending the Constitution and the Election Law will use the argumentation of the overturned verdict for their own agendas, and that is the narrative that we are a divided society and state and that this should only be formalized, that is the biggest problem if the Kovačević verdict falls,” Komšić said.
