Komšić and Samardžija wave the flag of unity, but there is still no money for EYOF!

At the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Rome, Sarajevo and East Sarajevo officially received the organization of the 2017 Winter European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) back in December 2012, writes the news agency Patria.

Sarajevo and East Sarajevo were the only candidates for organizing this competition, after the Turkish city of Kayseri withdrew its candidacy and practically gifted us the organization of the EYOF.

EYOF is the largest European sports competition, involving all 49 EOC members with at least 1,500 athletes.

The organization of the 2017 EYOF is the biggest project for Sarajevo since the 1984 Olympic Games, and a few days ago the flag arrived as a symbol of unity... But now it is clear to everyone that nothing has been done in the previous more than two years.

Ivo Komšić, Mayor of Sarajevo, and Nenad Samardžija, Mayor of East Sarajevo, in their statements warn that "work must begin"...

It was high time to start working, if we do not want to be embarrassed. On several occasions, Patria has written about the organization of the EYOF and the financial difficulties as well as delays in the implementation of certain projects, in order to meet the demanding organization of this event.

Samir Avdić, director of the company EYOF 2017, previously told Patria that they must wait for the formation of the government and that the wider community must be involved in the organization, but he believes that everything will be completed on time.

However, Komšić also had an answer to the problem of financing, so he told N1 that "in 1984, the entire state was involved, that state. Yes, Sarajevo was the central organizer of everything, but all the republics helped."

And so time relentlessly passes quickly, the flag is there and it flies, but there is no money even though all institutions, both at the lower and state levels, have promised help.
