Komšić and Džaferović wrote to world leaders

(Patria) - Members of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić sent a letter to the heads of state and government participating in the Peace Implementation Council (PIC). The letter was sent to the addresses of US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, German President Frank Walter-Steinmeier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Charles Michel.

The letter, as reported by Vijesti.ba, was sent about twenty days ago and, by all accounts, has yielded certain results to a certain extent. Germany is increasingly advocating for sanctions against Milorad Dodik, and the activities of the US have intensified with the visits of Gabriel Escobar and Derek Chollet, while Britain announces it will ask NATO to send troops to BiH.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is going through the most difficult security crisis since the end of the war. The constitutional order and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina are threatened by the unilateral actions of the authorities of the Republika Srpska entity.

For three years, the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, has been holding the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a state of blockade to a greater or lesser extent. In recent weeks, he has embarked on an undertaking to dismantle the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These state institutions were established through the arduous process of implementing the Dayton Agreement over the past 26 years. Thanks to them, peace has been preserved in our country even after the withdrawal of international military troops. An attack on the institutions is an attack on the very foundations of stability and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The announcement by the member of the BiH Presidency, Dodik, that he will, contrary to the BiH Constitution, re-establish the Army of Republika Srpska and attack the barracks of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina represents a direct path to escalation.

Such announcements are not just a problem for Bosnia and Herzegovina, but for overall European peace and security.

Considering that your country is a member of the Peace Implementation Council in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we call on you to pay attention to the security crisis in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to use your authority to contribute to the protection of the Dayton Agreement, the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and peace in this part of Europe."
