Komšić and Bećirović in London: Stability and Security in the Western Balkans are Necessary

(Patria) - Members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić and Denis Bećirović, met today in London with Lord Coaker, Minister of State in the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom responsible for international relations, diplomacy, and parliamentary affairs in the House of Lords.

The meeting was also attended by Dame Karen Pierce, the UK's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans.

Representatives of the British Government strongly condemned the actions of political individuals from Republika Srpska, emphasizing their unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They also highlighted their continuous and intensive support for BiH on its path towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

During a frank, constructive, and friendly conversation, European security, which faces significant challenges, particularly in the context of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the strengthening of Russian influence in the region, was also discussed.

Member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić emphasized the importance of commitment to preserving stability and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, and thanked the Government of the United Kingdom for its long-standing support.

The strengthening of bilateral relations and the formation of new forms of cooperation between the UK, BiH, and the countries of the region, especially in the area of preserving peace, stability, and security, were also discussed.

The interlocutors praised the excellent military cooperation between the two countries, and Lord Coaker confirmed full support for the continuation of reforms in the defence and security sector.

The meeting was also attended by the UK Ambassador to BiH, Julian Reilly.
