(Patria) - An extraordinary session of the BiH Presidency will be held today starting at 1 PM.
On the agenda is the Proposal for the Budget of BiH Institutions and international obligations for 2025, which was proposed by the BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić and BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović. Representatives from Republika Srpska have already announced they will be against the proposed budget, but Željka Cvijanović can be outvoted and does not have the right of veto.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Muhamed Hasanović emphasized that the proposed budget for BiH institutions strengthens the state and restores citizens' trust in state institutions.
"The proposed budget for the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the BiH Presidency has sent for procedure, represents a clear political and strategic message that our country is decisively committed to building functional institutions, strengthening the rule of law, and improving the living standards of citizens," says Hasanović.
He is of the opinion that, after a long period marked by blockades and stagnation, this step opens a new phase of institutional responsibility and development.
"We have never had a stronger budget before – neither politically nor economically. It reflects our will to strengthen institutions, restore dignity to employees, and invest in knowledge, culture, and security. The proposed budget simultaneously ensures citizens' security and institutional stability, and clearly paves the European path through investments in culture, education, and development," said Hasanović.
The budget provides funds for institutions of cultural significance to the state, support for the public radio-television service, the judiciary, and defense.
Minister of Finance and Treasury Srđan Amidžić pointed out that he does not agree with the proposed budget and that SNSD will not support the budget.
There are enough votes in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament to adopt the Budget, but the question is how things will unfold in the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliament, where SNSD holds a quorum with three delegates.
Without an adopted Budget, there are no new projects, no salary increases in BiH institutions, and while there is temporary financing, all institutions must adhere to last year's budget and expenses.
