Komšić: Dodik got the money, and Izetbegović was outsmarted again

Leader of the Democratic Front Željko Komšić commented on the agreement between SNSD and SDA presidents Milorad Dodik and Bakir Izetbegović on the Coordination Mechanism and the signing of the IMF Letter of Intent, which has already been sent to Washington, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Komšić believes that in this case, Dodik got what he desperately needs, and that is the IMF money.

- Politically speaking, I think they outsmarted Izetbegović again. As for the Coordination Mechanism, at least according to the statements that could be heard, especially from Mr. Dragan Čović, I hope something comes of it - says Komšić.

The DF president also said that the story about the Coordination Mechanism is complicated and that from the perspective of the constitutional order, it was not needed at all.

- You have the Council of Ministers that can lead this story. When you entered the story about the Coordination Mechanism, you started to create a whole parallel, let's call it conditionally, government that will decide outside the regular decision-making processes and constitutionally defined institutions and decide on something so important, which is the European path of BiH - says Komšić.

He reminded that at the beginning of January, the Council of Ministers of BiH secretly adopted the Coordination Mechanism, and that this became known with its publication in the Official Gazette of BiH.

- Now the question arises, if Dodik and Izetbegović agreed on this, what does it mean for this decision that is valid in the legal system of BiH. Will this decision be changed in accordance with the agreement, how will the ministers from the ranks of the HDZ react, does Izetbegović have full support within his party for everything he is doing - asks Komšić.

Komšić said that the most important thing for Dodik was the money to plug budget holes, but that the question is whether the Coordination Mechanism as a condition for the European path of BiH was actually agreed upon.

- It is possible that the HDZ will change its stance in the meantime, so that it is formalized into a legal norm. Knowing that the deadline falls in September, at the end of the election campaign, I am not optimistic that this will happen.
