Komšić: Dodik will have to put up with me in the BiH Presidency

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - There was an attempt by Mr. Dodik, through procedures he would interpret, to completely prevent the appointment of foreign judges by the President of the European Court of Human Rights. That will not be allowed, let's be clear. If anyone thinks someone here in the building is naive and that they will prevent the appointment of judges, they are sorely mistaken, said BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić after today's session. 

"Ultimately, I would not participate in consultations because that is the right of the President of the European Court of Human Rights. Something else is at play here, I can sense it. In a way, I can understand my colleague Dodik; he comes from a part of BiH where his word is law, first and last. He must get used to reading documents, coming to work; he could have asked for whatever he wanted, but obviously that escaped him somewhere," Komšić said.

He added that Dodik voted on all agenda items.

"He voted on all agenda items, but he was in favor of one we adopted. The item on pardons. Now, what they concluded in the NSRS, whether they participate or not, that is their business, but the fact is that Mr. Dodik came to the session and made decisions."

Dodik announced he would be against the decision on interim financing?

"That is the problem with Mr. Dodik. He doesn't get a say in that. I don't know what those people around him are doing. He doesn't get a say in that decision; if he is ready to take that risk, let him answer to the people why they have no salaries, why people in institutions have no salaries. I wouldn't play with that in his position. Sometimes I think he is a hostage to his own words and actions, and then he has to take a step or two back to justify himself. That was the case with NATO. Now he is pulling such moves again. He knows that no one in Sarajevo will allow him to politically fool or outplay anyone. But to constantly think that we are obliged only to listen to you and comment only on what you want, that is childish. I don't even have that kind of problem with a child. Slowly, there are procedures. If he thinks something has been violated here, let him turn to the Constitutional Court."

How do you respond to Dodik's call for resignation?

"I respond that I can understand some of his states, but I cannot argue with his angry worms about everything. That he doesn't like me being in the Presidency, well, he will have to put up with it for at least another three years," Komšić said, and further stated:

 "I will not argue or quarrel with him about things I do not decide on. That will not happen. If he thinks something has been violated, feel free to go to the Constitutional Court and they will say everything."
