Komšić: Čović's speech on the BiH Election Law at the UN podium sounded, excuse me, infantile!

I hope that the other two members of the BiH Presidency did not give their consent for Dragan Čović's speech at the UN. Because if they did, then only God can help us with those three, stated the leader of DF and former member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić for the Patria agency, commenting on Dragan Čović's speech at the UN General Assembly, in which Čović, among other things, touched upon the amendments to the Election Law in BiH.

The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Dragan Čović, addressed the participants of the general debate of the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, and after messages about Bosnia and Herzegovina supporting peace and prosperity in the world, he also stated that he wanted to draw attention with concern that at this moment, Bosnia and Herzegovina is going through a period of significant challenges.

“I am deeply convinced that one constituent people in Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be happy or prosperous if the other two constituent peoples and all our inhabitants are not. In this sense, I believe that we, within Bosnia and Herzegovina, must make a necessary step forward and adopt amendments to the election legislation by the end of this year, in accordance with the Decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Čović said at the UN podium.

Željko Komšić says that he listened to Čović's speech and thinks that there are parts in the entire speech that are, to put it mildly, “awkwardly phrased and presented”.

“And when I hoped that the speech would end with topics befitting the UN General Assembly podium, regardless of how they were phrased and presented, what followed was certainly not befitting that podium and place – the promotion of an internal topic and story about the amendments to the Election Law as the stance of HDZ, not the stance of the state,” said Komšić.

“First, nobody is interested in that story at the UN, so it is, therefore, ridiculous in that place.

Second, when the whole world is wondering if there will be a nuclear war, presenting the views of some HDZ from BiH, at the UN podium, which sounded like begging to be understood and to help Čović for this to happen, sounded, excuse me, infantile – concluded Komšić.
