Komšić: If Dodik considers something unconstitutional, he should address the Constitutional Court of BiH

(Patria) - Unfortunately or fortunately, it has now become clear what Milorad Dodik discussed with the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, which has been talked about in recent days. Proposals were made to amend the agenda from my side and from Dodik's side. My proposals were of a technical nature concerning protocol issues and agreements. Dodik then proposed amendments to the Law on the Central Bank, as well as an item to discuss the situation in Ukraine, said Željko Komšić after the session, noting that he and Šefik Džaferović voted against Dodik's proposal. 

“Dodik then gave a speech in which he presented some political views that I think are not valid. Firstly, if Dodik believes that anything is unconstitutional in this country, then he should address the Constitutional Court of BiH. The Constitutional Court is the only one that can determine what is constitutional and what is not. Dodik sought a discussion on Ukraine, citing the fact that two new states were formed on the territory of Ukraine. This is something that, in my opinion, is absolutely unacceptable as a stance and which the entire world has not recognized, except for the Russian Federation. That was Dodik's closing speech before leaving the session,” Komšić pointed out. 

Komšić added that it is clear that there is some plan, the implementation of which was initiated after the Dodik-Lavrov talks. 

“Regarding our vote in the UN and joining the EU's positions in Brussels, I want you to know that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs requested the positions of the cabinets of the BiH Presidency members on how to vote. Džaferović and I responded twice, Dodik did not even deign to respond,” Komšić stated. 

Answering a journalist's question “why the position from RS is not respected,” Komšić said that everyone participated in the creation of foreign and security policy, since the time of Nebojša Radmanović. 

“We can discuss everything, but then say we will not respect the UN Charter, we will not respect the Association Agreement… There is a position, we are not in a vacuum. If you want to change it, come with such a proposal,” Komšić emphasized. 

Asked if there is a vision for resolving the current crisis in BiH, Komšić replied: “There is a way out, we are sticking to the acts and what has been agreed upon earlier.”
