Komšić: November 25th and March 1st are inseparably linked

(Patria) - The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, attended the formal academy organized by the Association of Generals of BiH on Tuesday, on the occasion of marking November 25th, the Day of Statehood of BiH.

In his address, Komšić emphasized that November 25th and March 1st are inseparably linked and are the two most important dates in the recent history of BiH.

"If it weren't for November 25th, 1943, and ultimately, those after the sessions of ZAVNOBiH, it's questionable how March 1st, 1992, could have unfolded, whether BiH could have, so to speak, easily become an internationally recognized country, because it wasn't easy. The country had to be defended with terrible sacrifices, including war crimes, the crime of genocide, it's questionable how that would have proceeded," said Komšić.

He added that on November 25th, 1943, BiH "renewed and established its statehood, and based on that, it had the right to seek international recognition after the referendum on March 1st, 1992".

In a statement before the academy began, Komšić emphasized that he would always gladly respond to an invitation to attend the commemoration.

"It seems fitting for me that people connected to the fight for freedom in BiH, albeit in a completely different war, the one that befell us at the end of the last century, have the right and obligation and wish to organize it. In my opinion, it is certainly commendable that this group of people who are of great importance to all the successes of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the aggression wishes to dedicate themselves to this, to act in such a way, and not to forget what actually preceded the freedom of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian people from 1992 to 1995," said Komšić.
