Commission meets in Banja Luka: Brčko District without a referendum, will there be one in Srebrenica

The Commission for conducting the referendum on January 9 as the Day of RS meets today in Banja Luka. According to announcements, special city and municipal commissions for conducting the referendum will be formed, and activities on preparing voting materials are also underway, reports the Patria news agency.

The Mayor of Srebrenica, Ćamil Duraković, has already stated that he "will not form a municipal commission for conducting a referendum that violates the Constitution of BiH."

The Supervisor for Brčko District, Bruce G. Berton, refused as early as August 19 to give consent for holding the referendum on the territory of Brčko District.

Berton responded to a letter from the Mayor of Brčko, Ante Domić, which sought the supervisor's consent for holding the referendum of Republika Srpska on the territory of Brčko District BiH for citizens who hold citizenship of Republika Srpska.

The Commission is still waiting for voter lists to be submitted by the Central Election Commission. The Peace Implementation Council for BiH should also declare its position on the referendum in RS tomorrow. The PIC session, which was supposed to address this political issue, was postponed last week due to, as stated, additional consultations at the level of ambassadors of member countries.
