Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina Thanks Canada for Adopting the Srebrenica Resolution

At the 10th session of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly, during the consideration of Information on the stability of Balkan countries from a Canadian perspective, the Committee adopted a conclusion to send a letter of gratitude to the Parliament of Canada for adopting the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, reports the Patria news agency.

This is the first time that a body of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina has adopted such a conclusion regarding Srebrenica. We recall that the Parliament of Canada unanimously adopted the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica in May this year, and July 11 was declared the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica.

Furthermore, a positive opinion and recommendation were given to the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to ratify the Guarantee Agreement (related to the Loan Agreement for the Prijedor District Heating Project) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Removed from the session agenda were the Report from the 6th meeting of the chairs of foreign affairs committees of parliaments of Southeast European countries, held on April 15 and 16, 2015, as well as the Note on the official visit of the foreign policy committees of parliaments of the Southeast European region countries - Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and Serbia - to the House of Representatives and Senate of the Czech Republic, held on April 27 and 28, 2015.

The Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dušanka Majkić (SNSD), was not present, and the Committee also includes Monika Tomić (HDZ), Nermina Kapetanović (SDA), Senad Šepić and Sadik Ahmetović from SDA, Mladen Bosić (SDS), Željko Komšić (DF), Mirsad Đonlagić (SBB), and Denis Bećirović from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
