Security Committee did not support amendments to the Law on Police Officers of FBiH, a new proposal is sought

(Patria) - The Security Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina today did not support the amendments to the Law on Police Officers in the Federation of BiH, which were supposed to be considered by the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH at the two-day session of this House on January 19 and 20.

Dragan Mioković, the Chairman of the Committee and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH, stated that Ramo Isak, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Federation of BiH, attended today's session, and that the discussion was constructive, but that he reiterated his position that he will not vote for this legal proposal unless the Government of FBiH supports his amendment.

Mioković requested that a provision be added to the Amendments to the Law on Police Officers in FBiH that will have a certain validity period regarding promotions and the proposal for police officers to retire at 65 years of age.

"With the amendment, I requested that at the moment when this article concerning the promotion of police officers, which will be valid until December 31, 2027, ceases to be valid, all decisions made during that period will also automatically cease to be valid," Mioković told Faktor.

The Committee also adopted a conclusion by which it will ask the House of Representatives of FBiH to ask the Government of FBiH to submit a new Law on Internal Affairs of the Federation of BiH and a new Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Police Officers of FBiH to the parliamentary procedure.

In the past two months, unions have also expressed disagreement with the proposed amendments to the Law on Police Officers, appealing to the representatives not to support amendments to the law that benefit a few individuals and do not represent a good solution for all police officers.
