Concessions Commission "Jobs for Pals": Perhaps a Trainee Lawyer Will Solve the Hydropower Plant Construction Problem

(Patria) - The Concessions Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not fulfilled the task assigned to it by the Constitutional Court of BiH regarding hydropower plants on the Drina River - "Buk Bijela", following the appeal of 24 state deputies.

Instead, the Commission has secured a new six-month extension. And we can state with great certainty that the BiH Concessions Commission will not complete its work in the next six months either.

Because, in this country, commissions are havens for employing and enriching politically selected cronies. Today, this commission is in disarray, headless without a president, with mandates that have long expired, and the cronies remain entrenched, living off public money because they are Serbs, Croats, or Bosniaks, i.e., constituent.

There is no president, the deputy president is Milomir Amović from Sokolac, a doctor of economics. Members are also missing, and those who are members have little connection to the work for which they were commissioned.

Đoko Slijepčević is also a doctor of economics, from Banja Luka. Anto Matić, a doctor of agronomy from Livno, also decides on concessions in BiH. In a country of paradoxes, the Commission, which has many tasks and dealings with law, has no lawyers. Perhaps that is why the State Commission has the luxury of not implementing the decisions of the State Constitutional Court and being granted an additional deadline.

And until then, a lawyer - trainee will be employed in the Commission. This lawyer - trainee will work in Banja Luka, initially for a one-year traineeship. It is clear to all of us that in public service and all these numerous commissions, the practice is that "whoever enters, never leaves", so the lawyer - trainee will one day be an employed lawyer in a Commission for which law and the Constitution have long ceased to be interesting categories.

The Commission will remain a playground for murky dealings, undermining the state, and in addition to all existing options for entanglement, it will also have legal assistance. And the state will pay, because the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina has accustomed us to generously paying from the budget those who are leading it towards self-destruction on autopilot.
