Anti-Corruption Commission announces public hearing on the work of the BiH Indirect Taxation Authority

(Patria) - Members of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) held separate meetings today with representatives of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of BiH, the ITA BiH Union, and the Director of the Public Procurement Agency of BiH, Tarik Rahić.

On behalf of the Commission, the meetings were attended by Chairman Branislav Borenović, his deputy Ermina Salkičević-Dizdarević, and members Jasmin Emrić, Nenad Grković, and Safet Kešo.



At the meeting with representatives of the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of the ITA BiH, Predrag Jelača, Nidžar Mičić, and Dragoslav Stjepanović, the Independent Union's request for a public debate and hearing on the work of the ITA BiH was discussed.

It was concluded that the Commission will, at its next session, adopt a Decision on a public hearing on the work of the ITA BiH, with a special focus on the actions of judicial institutions regarding criminal cases with grounds for suspicion of corruption in the ITA BiH from 2014 onwards.

At a separate meeting with the President of the ITA BiH Union, Ana Mrnjavac, members of the Anti-Corruption Commission were informed about the content of the Information on the Union's work.

In a discussion with the Director of the Public Procurement Agency of BiH, Tarik Rahić, the issue of abuses committed by contracting authorities in the public procurement process was considered, particularly through the procedure of exemption from the application of provisions of the Law on Public Procurement of BiH.



Cases of non-application of the provisions of the Law on Public Procurement in the period from 2023 to 2025 were also discussed.

Commission members emphasized the need to urgently initiate the procedure for amending the Law on Public Procurement of BiH, with the aim of more precisely defining the conditions and procedures for granting exemptions, as well as establishing clear corrective mechanisms and oversight of the application of these legal provisions.

It was stressed that adequate normative regulation of this area would prevent further abuses, ensure greater transparency, and enable a timely response from competent institutions in cases of non-application and unjustified exemption from the application of the provisions of the Law on Public Procurement of BiH.
