Commission has not yet made a decision: Former hero of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina tries to keep a roof over his head

Former fighter of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hajrudin Osmančević, still does not know whether he will be evicted from his studio apartment in Sarajevo's Josip Vancaš Street.

The Commission of the Service for Joint Affairs of the Bodies and Institutions of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is urgently checking what happened to the apartment of Osmančević's parents, an apartment he received from Željezara and which Osmančević gave to his wife and children after they separated in the early '90s. The commission is also checking data on the property status of Osmančević and his second wife, who passed away two years ago...

If the Commission finds even one irregularity, this war hero could end up on the street.

- Let them check everything in detail, they will see that I have none of what they suspect today - claims Osmančević for the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- It is true that my two brothers, sister, and I sold our parents' apartment. My parents survived the hell of Ahmići, hiding in the forest for 42 days. They had a log cabin there, without electricity, roads, or water, and in the spring they would go to plant some vegetables. After the horrors in Ahmići, my mother went from 80 to about 40 kilograms.

My father soon got bone cancer, and my mother developed high blood pressure and heart disease. None of us had money for their treatment (my sister's husband died), and after a few years, when they died, we had no money for the funeral. My brother then had to sell their apartment, for 20,000 KM, to repay the money he had borrowed for their treatment and funeral.

The studio apartment that the commission suspects was taken by Željezara. When I divorced my wife in 1991, the studio apartment remained with her and the children. I moved out. After that, my first wife moved with the children to Germany, and Željezara took the studio apartment again. It was a studio apartment of only 11 square meters - claims Osmančević.

The studio apartment on Sarajevo's Josip Vancaš Street, where Osmančević currently lives, is owned by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Osmančević received it for use ten years ago. At that time, the apartment was owned by the Federal Ministry of Defense and the Army of the Federation. General Atif Dudaković personally ordered that Osmančević be given the apartment, due to the merits Osmančević earned during the Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Osmančević is the only non-commissioned officer awarded the golden "A", the highest recognition in military education. He is an IT specialist by profession, and his superiors assessed that he made an immeasurable contribution to the defense of the country.

These days, the former hero is trying to keep some kind of roof over his head, writes Patria.
