Commemorative session on the occasion of the death of General Šiber

On the occasion of the death of the General of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Stjepan Šiber, one of the main organizers of resistance to the bloody aggression against our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina, a commemorative session will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 09:30 AM in the large hall of the Centar Municipality.

The funeral of General Šiber will take place on the same day at the Bare City Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

General Stjepan Šiber passed away in Sarajevo at the age of 78. He was born in Gradačac on August 20, 1938, where he completed primary and secondary school. After that, in 1957, he went to Ljubljana to attend the Land Army Military Academy. Upon completion of the Academy, he became an active officer in the JNA, where he advanced to the rank of colonel.

At the beginning of the aggression against our homeland, he put himself at the service of the state, the one and only Bosnia and Herzegovina, and bravely joined the ranks of its defense. In the first year of the aggression in 1992, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the ARBiH. A year later, on December 14, 1993, he was promoted to Brigadier General. He also served as a military attaché at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Switzerland.
