Commemoration for Holocaust victims at the Jewish Community in Sarajevo

On the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, a commemoration for all victims will be held on Friday at the Jewish Community in Sarajevo, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mladen Ivanić, will give a speech, and Michael Brenner will give a lecture on the topic "The Dark Shadow of Auschwitz: The Life of Jews in Germany".

Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Prevention of Crimes Against Humanity is observed on January 27th, and on this day, we want to remember all the victims of the Nazi regime in World War II.

This date is observed throughout Europe, and on this day in 1945, the Red Army liberated 7,500 prisoners left behind by the Nazis at the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland.

By the final liberation, according to estimates, more than 2.5 million Jews, Poles, and Roma perished in Auschwitz and other concentration camps. They were killed in gas chambers, through starvation, forced labor, lack of hygiene, executions, and medical experiments.
