
A commemorative gathering on the occasion of the death of actor Vladimir Jokanović will be held in the hall of the National Theatre Sarajevo, on Monday at 10:30 AM. On the same day, at the Bare cemetery in Sarajevo, the burial will take place at 12:45 PM.
We remind you that Jokanović passed away today in Sarajevo. He was born in Doboj in 1929. He performed roles in all Bosnian-Herzegovinian theatres, and was engaged at the National Theatre Sarajevo from 1957. He is the recipient of the City of Sarajevo's April 6th Award, numerous theatre awards, and was repeatedly declared the best actor at theatre festivals. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo.
Jokanović's life and professional path are filled with a series of significant roles on the stages of BH theatres, in film, in television and radio drama programs, and in poetry recitals. Sophocles, Shakespeare, Molière, Tolstoy, Gogol, Chekhov, Dumas, Miller, Brecht, Kafka, Adamov, Osborne, Shaw, Ibsen, Strindberg, O'Neill, Bulgakov, Bond, Držić, Krleža, Kočić, Nušić, Selimović, Sterija, Kiš, Čolaković, Sidran, Vešović, and many other writers came to life through Vladimir Jokanović's stage presence, and memorable roles emerged from their literature – Hamlet, Horatio, Dorante, Dr. Stockman, James Tyrone, Old Violinist, Polonius, Smith, Avdaga, Šehaga, Alonso, Old Man, Macduff, Mrgud, Gentleman...
