Commemoration for the tragically deceased Erdoan Morankić: 'He carried within him an image full of respect and love for others'

(Patria) - A commemoration was held today in Brčko for the tragically deceased young man Erdoan Morankić (23), a third-year painting student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, who died in a tram accident in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Marijin Dvor.

The hall filled with friends, colleagues, and professors bore witness to deep pain, but also pride for the young artist who left a strong mark behind.

Sadness is felt at every step in Brčko, the hometown of Erdoan Morankić, who will be laid to rest today.

An emotional speech was given by the Dean of the Academy, Prof. Dr. Dubravka Pozderac-Lejlić, emphasizing that words are insufficient to describe the loss.

She highlighted that Erdoan carried within him an image full of respect and love for others, faith in the beauty of life and the goodness of the world. He was, as she said, at the very beginning of his artistic and life journey, but was already recognized as a cheerful, responsible, and talented young person.

Arma Tanović Branković also addressed the attendees, stating that the loss of a young artist carries additional weight.

She emphasized that with his passing, the University of Sarajevo and the Academy of Fine Arts have lost not just a student, but a part of their future.

Erdoan's presence, as stated, was not just a number in the registry, but a contribution to a community that learns and creates together.

A large number of citizens arrived in Brčko by bus to attend today's funeral.

The funeral prayer will be held today after the afternoon prayer in front of the mosque in Ivici, and the burial will take place in the Meraje cemetery.

We remind you that Morankić died on February 12th in a tram accident in Sarajevo. He is survived by his father Arman, mother Edina, brother Ardijan, grandfathers, grandmothers, aunt, uncle, and numerous relatives and friends.

Brčko says goodbye today to a young man whose life was cut short too soon, but whose art and kindness will remain permanently inscribed in the memories of all who knew him.
