Commemoration on the occasion of the death of Svetozar Pudarić: He was a man with a capital M

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A commemoration on the occasion of the death of Svetozar Pudarić was held today in the hall of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

Numerous friends, comrades-in-arms, and colleagues said goodbye to Pudarić. 

"Pudarić revealed the human side of social democracy. Politics for him was about working with people, and he wrote SDP's policy through thousands of kilometers traveled to reach all those who needed justice," said, among other things, a member of the SDP Presidency.

The Director of the Directorate for European Integration, the last institution where Pudarić worked, said that "days of long stories are needed to tell everything about Svetozar Pudarić". 

"Svetozar Pudarić was a man with a capital M, of which there are few today. His thoughts and dedication to Bosnia and Herzegovina enriched us. A dedicated servant of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he often said that we must serve this country. Perhaps the meaning of the name Svetozar - Dawn, a symbol of beginning, light, the end of darkness, speaks best of him," said Dilberović.

The former President of the Presidency of the SFRY and also one of the greatest social democrats who ever walked this country, Bogić Bogićević, also said goodbye to Pudarić in a letter. 

"Sveto respected people, and people respected him. He was a man of rare intellect and culture, and he won people over. He knew that ignorance is the greatest source of misunderstanding and conflict. Until the end of his life, he fought for people, which was not easy. He fought for a common life, without divisions. He defended his beliefs with his entire being. He did everything responsibly and diligently, giving people hope that things could be better. Now that Svetozar Pudarić's heart has stopped beating, we are left with memories of a man with a big heart," said Bogićević.

The commemoration concluded with the message "Comrade Sveto, death to fascism! Freedom to the people!".

Pudarić's funeral and burial will be held at 2:30 PM at the Bare City Cemetery.
