Kolinda's Spokesman Abruptly Interrupts Interview with President Because He Didn't Like the Questions

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović gave an interview to  Dnevnik Nove TV yesterday after delivering a speech at the United Nations on the occasion of the Adriatic-Baltic initiative, reports the Patria news agency.  

The interview, conducted by journalist Ivana Petrović, was abruptly and unprofessionally interrupted by Kolinda's spokesman Luka Đurić after Petrović decided to ask Grabar-Kitarović a few questions about relations between Croatia and Serbia.

After questions about the refugee crisis and the state of relations with Hungary, Petrović asked Kolinda about her stance toward Serbia, to which Grabar-Kitarović responded.

-Official border crossings must be open. Of course, under supervision. The area between border crossings must be placed under full supervision. We simply cannot allow, and this is contrary to Schengen criteria and everything else, people entering through cornfields, through fields, through forests. That is completely unnecessary. Therefore, any entry of people into the country must be strictly controlled through border crossings. We need to control who, how, and why enters the Croatian state, and finally, some order must be introduced here, said Kolinda.

After that, when asked whether she is ready to discuss this with Serbian President Nikolić, Grabar-Kitarović answered positively.

The next question was the straw that broke the camel's back in the eyes of spokesman Đurić. After Petrović asked Kolinda whether she plans to talk with Nikolić, the spokesman of the President's Office interrupted the conversation.

-Come on, Ivana, I really have to stop this because we agreed this would be an Adriatic-Baltic interview, and you veered off to Hungary, and now you've ended up on Serbia, he said.

Kolinda did manage to utter that she plans to, but the angry Đurić cut her off.

-Don't mix things up, I know what they will air in a live conversation, he said, reports Index.
