Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović sworn in as President with tears

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović took the oath of office, pledging allegiance to the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia, after which she signed the text of the solemn oath she had previously recited, writes the Patria news agency.

Kolinda cried while taking the oath:

- I pledge on my honour that I will conscientiously and responsibly perform the duties of the President of the Republic of Croatia, for the good of the Croatian people and all Croatian citizens. As the head of state of Croatia: I will adhere to the Constitution and laws, I will ensure respect for the constitutional and legal order of the Republic of Croatia, I will watch over the orderly and just functioning of all state authorities, I will preserve the independence, existence, and unity of the state of Croatia. So help me God – said the Croatian president through tears.

After all conditions were met for the president to assume office, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia congratulated Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović on her new position, which she will assume on February 19.
