How much do citizens earn, and how much do parliamentarians earn in the Western Balkans?

(Patria) - Radio Free Europe (RSE) published data on how much citizens earn and how much parliamentarians earn in six Western Balkan countries.

The attached infographic lists the amounts of minimum, average, and parliamentarian salaries in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

The smallest difference between citizen and parliamentarian salaries is in Serbia, while Albania has the highest parliamentarian salary and the lowest average salary.

Albania
• minimum salary 360 euros,
• average salary 636 euros,
• parliamentarian salary 3,324 euros

Bosnia and Herzegovina
• minimum 316 euros,
• average 707 euros,
• parliamentarian 2,577 euros

Montenegro
• minimum 450 euros,
• average 877 euros,
• parliamentarian 1,856 euros

Kosovo
• minimum 130-170 euros,
• average 698 euros,
• parliamentarian 1,571 euros

North Macedonia
• minimum 367 euros,
• average 676 euros,
• parliamentarian 1,668 euros

Serbia
• minimum 389 euros,
• average 821 euros,
• parliamentarian 989 euros

RSE also notes that the data refers to September 2024. In Kosovo, the minimum wage amount depends on age.
