How much is the profit from migrants in BiH

(Patria) - Migrants currently staying in the "Bira" reception center in Bihać and "Miral" in Velika Kladuša will soon be relocated to a location outside the urban area, and the Government of the Una-Sana Canton is working intensively on it, confirmed the Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, Mustafa Ružnić.

"We must preserve the dignity of migrants and respect all conventions, but we must also preserve the dignity of our citizens and ensure their safe and unimpeded life," said Ružnić.

According to the latest information, there are currently 3,200 foreign nationals staying in migrant reception centers in the Una-Sana Canton, while the number of those in private accommodation is unknown. In the last month, despite the police blockade, an increased number of migrants have been arriving in the Una-Sana Canton.

The migrant crisis in BiH has been accompanied by a series of controversies from the beginning. Although the Delegation of the European Union previously stated that they did not want to finance the accommodation of migrants in the Agrokomerc premises in Velika Kladuša, which are owned by the Federation of BiH, because these premises are too close to the border with Croatia, migrants were soon after accommodated in the premises of the company "Miral" in Velika Kladuša, which is privately owned and located right next to the Agrokomerc facilities.

"I received notification from the European Commission that they do not want to finance the Agrokomerc facilities because it is too close to the EU border. According to them, this would somehow attract migrants to come to such a center in order to proceed further towards the EU," said the Minister of Security of BiH, Dragan Mektić, earlier.

Mustafa Ružnić, Prime Minister of the Una-Sana Canton, told the Patria news agency that the Agrokomerc halls are owned by the Federation of BiH, while the Miral hall is private property. When it comes to proximity to the state border, there is no difference.

"The Agrokomerc premises were a proposal from the Operational Group for Migration Management within the Ministry of Security of BiH. Such a proposal was rejected by the local authorities, the mayor of Velika Kladuša, and the Municipal Council. The private premises of the Miral hall were proposed by businessmen from Velika Kladuša to temporarily relocate migrants who were at the Maljevac border crossing itself, and due to whom the crossing was blocked by Croatia for seven days, for a period of 15 days. After the 15-day period expired, by agreement between the owner of the Miral hall and the International Organization for Migration, the hall remained as temporary reception accommodation to serve for migrants to spend the winter there," Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić told the Patria agency.

Some of the migrants who arrived in the Una-Sana Canton are also accommodated in the private hotel "Sedra" in Cazin, about twenty kilometers from the border with Croatia.
