All mayors of BiH municipalities who come from the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) held a Council of Mayors in Sarajevo today, reports the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).
As confirmed to NAP by the mayor of Novo Sarajevo municipality, Nedžad Koldžo, the goal was to find ways for municipalities not affected by the devastating floods and landslides in BiH to help those municipalities in the country that have suffered major material damage. Today, the discussion was only about assistance to municipalities run by mayors from the Party of Democratic Action.
More than 30 municipal mayors from this party declared today whether they need assistance in repairing the damage caused by floods and landslides, whether they can repair the damage themselves, and whether they are in a position to provide assistance to other municipalities.
- In the very first days of the floods, Novo Sarajevo municipality helped Vogošća, Olovo, Maglaj, and several other municipalities with BAM 50,000. We will continue to provide assistance – said Koldžo.
Let us remind you that during the floods and landslides that hit BiH in the last ten days, 44 municipalities throughout BiH suffered multi-million BAM material damage, but without official assessments, precise data cannot yet be discussed. Some of these municipalities, such as Maglaj or Olovo, are unable to repair the damage themselves without the help of higher authorities in the country, and even international aid, writes Patria.
