Kojović: After the meeting, it is clear that a civic, European Bosnia and Herzegovina has no chance in Neum

(Patria) - Predrag Kojović from Naša stranka said that the negotiations on amendments to the election law are not a step forward but a step backward or a cementing of the current situation. He pointed out that after this meeting it is clear that "a civic, European Bosnia and Herzegovina has no chance in Neum". Because of this, representatives of Naša stranka will not go to the talks in Neum.

Kojović said they came to the meeting today because they believed they had a great responsibility, given that their proposal for constitutional changes had gone the furthest in the parliamentary procedure and passed the committee stage.

“We believed it was important that the option of a civic, European Bosnia and Herzegovina be on the table among other options. After this meeting, it is clear that this option has no real chance in Neum, that it cannot be discussed legitimately and equally,” said Kojović, as reported by N1.

He pointed out that the ruling coalition of SDA-HDZ-SNSD has more than enough support in the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina to pass amendments to the constitution and the election law. He added that he had hoped that the pressure and participation of these people, who have made exceptional efforts, would lead to Bosnia and Herzegovina moving forward and towards a “normal European state” in terms of its constitution and functioning.

“Unfortunately, from the very beginning of the process, we were forced to seek a solution within a small circle, which was limited by the condition that the proposal must not encroach on Republika Srpska and must satisfy Dragan Čović. The proposals that will be considered in Neum are along those lines, and that is why we do not want to go there,” said Kojović.

He emphasized that he is very emotional about all of this and stated that we must have elections on October 2nd.

“I appeal to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to think of these elections as a referendum on this type of politics, which constantly turns Bosnia and Herzegovina into an experiment with concepts of legitimate representatives and constituent peoples. I believe that a better Bosnia and Herzegovina than this one is possible. The political reality needs to be changed, and only the citizens can do that. This means I agree that we should not have three people in the Presidency with enormous powers, but one person who will symbolically represent this country. Of course, the collective interests of all three peoples are important, but good mechanisms remain that can protect vital national interests. We must get out of this. As long as we talk about three people, it will always be the same,” Kojović concluded.
