Which candidate will restore the integrative function of the BiH Presidency Institution?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the upcoming general elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will be held on October 7, 2018, public interest will be particularly focused on the election of members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. One of the candidates for a member of the Presidency from the Bosniak people, representing the SDP BiH, is Denis Bećirević.

- There are several important factors that qualify Denis Bećirović as the most serious candidate for this position, and which give him an objective advantage over other candidates. As an honest, uncompromised, responsible, young but experienced politician, Bećirović has justified the trust of citizens in his public and political life so far, especially through active work in the state parliament.

As a university professor, doctor of historical sciences, he possesses the necessary knowledge about the multi-ethnic nature of Bosnian-Herzegovinian society, understands the importance of the historical moment and the geopolitical circumstances in which the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina finds itself, and I believe he is aware of the responsibility that the position of head of state carries.

The consistent and principled policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a unified, sovereign, modern, democratic and civic state, and the equality of all BiH peoples that he has advocated so far, is the best response to the policy of ethno-national divisions. The Institution of the BiH Presidency, which has become an arena for the manifestation of personal, inter-party and ethnic divisions and conflicts, can restore its integrative function through state-building policy. Relations in Bosnia and Herzegovina largely depend on the balance of power in the international community.

Since foreign policy is the primary competence of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, as a resolute fighter against all forms of fascism and an advocate for situating the values of European democracies, protecting individual and collective rights, with a clear vision of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a member of the European Union and NATO Alliance, can secure the necessary support from leaders of the civilized world in strengthening the state-legal integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the international level. For these reasons, I am convinced that the majority of citizens will identify with Denis Bećirović in the elections on October 7, 2018 - stated Prof. Dr. Elmir Sadiković, associate professor at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Sarajevo.
