Commemoration of the tragedy of the Macedonian delegation and President Trajkovski to be held near Stolac

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - By laying flowers at the memorial site at Matića brdo, Rotimlja in the Stolac municipality near Mostar, the 17th anniversary of the tragedy of the members of the Macedonian state delegation led by President Boris Trajkovski will be marked today.

Trajkovski, along with his associates and crew members, tragically died in a plane crash while arriving at the International Investment Conference in Mostar in 2004.

We recall that on 26 February 2004, Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski died in the crash of the presidential aircraft, a Beechcraft King Air B200, which crashed near the town of Stolac in Eastern Herzegovina.

Boris (Kiril) Trajkovski (Monospitovo, 25 June 1956 - Hrgud, 26 February 2004) was a Macedonian politician and President of Macedonia from 1999 until his death.

He was born into a Methodist family and graduated from the Faculty of Law in Skopje, later specialising in the USA in 1980. Until 1997, he served as head of the legal department of the company Sloboda in Skopje. For one year, he was also chief of staff to the mayor of Skopje, and until 21 December 1998, he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
