Several families trapped in snow near Mostar, desperately seeking help!

Several families and elderly people have been trapped for five days in snowdrifts and ice in the villages of Bogodol and Bila near Mostar, reported desperate people seeking help from the city and authorities of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, reports the Patria News Agency. 

Teams that tried to help them yesterday could not break through, so they are seeking help from the city authorities who have snowplows that should clear the roads to the family homes.

In Bila, three families, a flock of sheep, and wild horses have been snowed in for four days. Near the Mira cemetery and the Roman well Prikinjac, there is a herd of wild horses surrounded by a large amount of snow and ice, making it impossible for them to get out.

The endangered families have called on the Mayor of Mostar, Ljubo Bešlić, to approve a snowplow from the utility company to clear the road to Bila. Parts of the local roads in the village of Bogodol have also not been cleared of snow and ice.

One of the Mostar rescuers, who participated in a rescue operation in these villages two years ago, stated that it is an extremely difficult terrain and that problems are constant in these areas whenever it snows.
