A man who killed four people and injured several others at a school in Canada before opening fire on the school first shot his two brothers at home, reports the news agency Patria.
Police announced that the suspect was arrested after the shooting in La Loche in the province of Saskatchewan, about 600 kilometers north of the city of Saskatoon, reports Reuters.
The mayor of La Loche, Kevin Janvier, told AP that his 23-year-old daughter Marie was also killed.
He stated, citing information he received from the police, that the armed attacker first shot his two biological brothers at home, and then headed to the school.
Officials did not state the motive for the attack and did not provide the names of the suspect or the victims.
Family friend Joe Lemaigre said that the suspected attacker, a teenager, shot his two younger brothers before going to the school to shoot a teacher and an assistant, both of whom he killed.
"I know that family. Their mother worked in Fort McMurray, and their grandfather went shopping in Meadow Lake. Then he shot," says Lemaigre.
Police announced that the shooting occurred at a high school and another location, adding that the suspect was taken into custody and his firearm was confiscated.
