Coalition "Pod lupom": Elections passed in democratic atmosphere with minor irregularities

The assessment of the Coalition "Pod lupom" is that yesterday's General Elections passed in a fair and democratic atmosphere with a small number of irregularities, it was announced today at a press conference, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Dario Jovanović, president of the Coalition, said that in more than 95% of cases, polling stations opened and closed on time, while 100% of polling board members were at their posts, and observers also had access.

- 4% of voting was recorded without identification documents, which was mostly in the Brčko District - said Jovanović.

It was pointed out that cases of family voting and assistance in voting were recorded. Regarding invalid ballots for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, procedures were followed at 98% of polling stations.

Jelena Tanasković, legal advisor of the Coalition, said that there were 120 reports from the field, and about 50 were dismissed.

- The remaining about 70 concern a lack of voting materials and delays in opening polling stations - said Tanasković.

As stated, in several cases, the police also intervened in Livno and Pale.

Vehid Šehić, president of the strategic committee of the Coalition, said that citizens believed in what they were doing.

- Certain political parties also contacted us. We were cautious in assessing some situations because only the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has the authority to determine irregularities. A report awaits us to proceed with recommendations for amendments to the Election Law - said Šehić.

Šehić said that there were cases where all members of polling boards were from the same party.
