Who is implementing Dragan Čović's plan in Sarajevo?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - As a new round of talks between domestic political representatives and international officials on amendments to the BiH Constitution and the BiH Election Law approaches, the silence of HDZ leader Dragan Čović is becoming increasingly noticeable. Čović is evidently getting everything according to plan. 

Known as someone who says the least when he speaks, and says the most when he is silent, Čović has this time, unlike before when he loudly announced a 'final solution' (which came to nothing), opted for silence. 

What does this silence actually say? Besides indicating that everything is going according to plan, this silence suggests that there is someone in Sarajevo to speak on behalf of the policy he advocates, so that he does not unnecessarily irritate the public, which in recent years, due to his active undermining of the state in alliance with Dodik, has been far from sympathetic towards him. 

Čović has every reason for high expectations, given that his close partner, SBB leader Fahrudin Radončić, almost effortlessly manages to impose within the 'opposition bloc' (SDP BiH, SD, SBB (although Radončić's party is not in opposition), NiP, NS, NB, and PDA) an ethnic policy of so-called legitimate representation. 

True, it is not difficult to drive a fish into water, because half of the 'opposition' bloc (Radončić, Konaković, and Kukić) publicly advocates for the so-called 'legitimate representation of the Croatian people'. The question is only how the civic SDP will position itself on this. 

In other words, the question is whether the critical mass within SDP BiH realizes that Radončić, although he has almost no parliamentary capacity, is the one pulling the strings and holding the reins. 

In which direction is Radončić pulling the strings on behalf of the 'opposition bloc'? In the direction that explains the conspicuous silence of Dragan Čović. A silence that hopes that Radončić will euthanize the civic parties SDP and DF. One in one way, the other in another, and that this will ultimately result in reducing the negotiation format to a Čović - Izetbegović format, with Radončić 'encouraging' Izetbegović towards a 'compromise'. 

What in Radončić's eyes is a compromise between Čović and Izetbegović is, without doubt, an ethnic division and betrayal of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The SBB leader practically no longer hides that this is the plan that Čović is silent about, and he is implementing. 

 'Our plan and my plan, I did not want to talk about it at the Congress, because the Congress is too large an institution to discuss such matters, which concern daily tactics. We do not want, at least when it comes to SBB, to weaken Mr. Izetbegović's negotiating position. On the contrary, in that chess game, as we figuratively put it, where you have destructive Dodik and persistent Čović, we believe we should help Mr. Izetbegović, encourage him to make and accept a compromise, and together with him share the burden of responsibility for the best solutions we will agree upon with representatives of the Croatian people or the Serbian people,' said Radončić for FTV. 

If this plan is realized, the greatest responsibility for its implementation will lie with the pro-Bosnian parties, because they allowed a politically marginal figure in Sarajevo to fulfill all of Dragan Čović's wishes, even the dreams that Jadranko Prlić and others dream in some prison unit.
