WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? Several power lines in Una-Sana Canton still without power

(Patria) - In the Una-Sana Canton, parts of power lines and substations in the areas of Bihać, Bosanska Krupa, Ključ, and Velika Kladuša are still without power, the Federal Civil Protection Administration announced.

Parts of the 10-kilovolt power lines Martin Brod and Skočaj in the Bihać area, Jasenica in the Bosanska Krupa area, and the Lanište and Lokveni vrh substations in Ključ, as well as Kudići one and two and Sabljakovići in Velika Kladuša are without power.

Strong winds are creating snowdrifts and hindering traffic in the wider areas of Livno, Tomislavgrad, Glamoč, and Bosansko Grahovo, and traffic for trucks is banned on the roads Bosanski Petrovac-Drvar-Bosansko Grahovo, Glamoč-Mlinište, and Drvar-Glamoč.

On the regional road Karanovac – Kneževo, the road is passable up to Vidovo Vrelo, and further to Kneževo driving is not recommended, as well as on the road Kneževo – Ugar.

This situation raises numerous questions about the responsibility of competent institutions. Although it is understandable that adverse weather conditions such as strong winds and snowdrifts create difficulties in repairs, the question arises as to why many communities are left with multi-day power outages.

Citizens in the affected areas, especially in rural parts, report being without heating and basic living conditions, while officials provide limited information on the progress in resolving the problem.

The lack of preventive infrastructure maintenance, as well as insufficient investment in the modernization of the power grid, further complicates the already difficult situation. Some analysts believe that such outages can be reduced by improving infrastructure and setting new standards for resilience to extreme weather conditions.
