Book 'Through the Prism of History' by Professor Fikret Karčić Promoted Last Night in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The book 'Through the Prism of History' by author Professor Fikret Karčić was promoted last night at the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo. It consists of nearly a hundred commentaries, essays and reviews that Professor Karčić published in the daily newspaper Oslobođenje from 2012 to 2017.

'The aim of this edition is to gather all these different texts in one place and bear witness to what was read and written in our country in the second decade of the 21st century,' the author wrote, as reported by the Patria agency. His interests include Muslim peoples, law, states, institutions, individuals, the multi-religious character of empires, modernisation and similar topics.

The published 'reviews' mostly refer to books issued mainly in English and not translated into Bosnian. The author wanted to bring closer to readers in Bosnia and Herzegovina the rich production about Muslims and Islam in the world.

Fikret Karčić is a professor of Comparative Legal History at the Faculty of Law, University of Sarajevo. His main academic interest is the study of the history of Islamic law and Islamic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the observed period, reformist movements in Islam, Balkan Muslims and comparative legal culture.

The book 'Through the Prism of History' was published by the Center for Advanced Studies in Sarajevo.
