Knežević: 2,000 people will lose their jobs with the construction of Block 7

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - One of the biggest war damages in BiH is the lack of knowledge, we lost knowledge during and after the war, and there are no more complex projects than the construction of a thermal power plant, energy expert Aleksandar Knežević told N1.

"You can make mistakes on the highway from Kakanj to Doboj, and traffic will still flow. You don't have to buy electricity from Elektroprivreda BiH, you can buy it from Norway. So the situation is far more complex. Our parties have introduced a doctrine, it's not about how much you know, but who you know. Many studies are wrong, results are fabricated for many measurements," says Knežević.

According to him, construction permits are obtained based on this.

Knežević is the author of an external review, which he sent to the Government and Parliament of the Federation of BiH, Elektroprivreda BiH, and the Ministry of Finance of the Federation of BiH.

He also states that he found a project about Block 7 online, which stated that it was a secret project. He also points out that there was no objective review of Block 7, about which he informed the Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH, Fadil Novalić, as he says.

"I found inflated data in five places, because revenues are mentioned, not expenses. The EU introduced incentives for renewable energy sources a long time ago, as well as CO2 emission taxes," says Knežević.

Commenting on the politicians' statements about warnings from the EU, Knežević says that he often asks and hears the opinions of politicians, but not experts.

"Politicians always tell half the truth. They say that if we don't build Block 7, three thousand people will be left without jobs. But they don't say that if we build Block 7, two thousand people will be left without jobs, because it's newer technology, one block instead of three, etc.," explains Knežević.

The EU will abolish the production of energy from fossil fuels in 2050, so we must make an energy transition in any case, Knežević stated.

He also says that the only good thing about the new block is that pollution will be reduced.

"With the ban on fossil fuels and the talk about environmental protection, Europe wants to curb the political expansion of Russia and China," concluded Knežević.
