SDA Caucus in the BPK Goražde Assembly: Is the Hranjen Tunnel Construction in Jeopardy?

(Patria) - Due to the incompetent policy of the ruling coalition in the Bosniak-Podrinje Canton Goražde and the compromise policy of the Trojka and HDZ, at the expense of Bosniaks, the project of building the fast road: Sarajevo – Goražde and the construction of the Hranjen tunnel are in jeopardy, according to the Caucus of the Party of Democratic Action in the BPK Assembly.

It is unacceptable that the authorities in BPK Goražde have been misinforming citizens for a year about the progress and faster pace of work on the Hranjen tunnel construction, while the BPK Goražde Government concealed the information that the works were stopped and all workers were withdrawn to other construction sites in January 2024, state the representatives of this party.

- The current parliamentary majority tried to hide their incompetence regarding the realization of this historic project at the last session of the BPK Goražde Assembly, when they proposed unconstitutional and illegal amendments to the Law on Forests of BPK Goražde. Behind this proposal, they wanted to hide the unfulfilled obligations of the BPK Goražde Government related to the conversion of agricultural and forest land, and the provision of necessary documentation for the construction of the fast road, all in a way that would harm the BPK Government's budget by approximately 356,307.31 KM, in the name of payment from JP Autoceste FBiH - the SDA Caucus statement reads.

Autoceste Federacije BiH informed the BPK Government in their letter that activities on the realization of the Hrenovica – Hranjen – Goražde fast road construction are being suspended, they add in the statement.

- Such behavior by the representatives of Autoceste is unacceptable, and it is not permissible to allow a JP director, regardless of the level and form, to write "threatening letters". Denis Lasić, who signed this letter, should know that he is the director of the JP for the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina when it comes to the construction of highways and fast roads. Were problems solved this way when it came to the Lašva - Nević Polje - Travnik or Mostar - Široki Brijeg fast roads? Certainly not, because there, the content of such a letter would not be allowed to be sent, because there, the HDZ cadres are the "masters of life".

It is very important to conclude that this letter aims to obstruct this project because it is not in the interest of the HDZ, which we can understand, but what is not understandable is the issue of the cadres of the so-called Trojka, which has representatives in the Management of Autoceste and the Supervisory Board. It is already known that a NiP cadre in Autoceste holds the position of Executive Director for Legal Affairs, an economist responsible for resolving and preparing such matters for their realization.

We remind the public that the SDA initiated the construction of this strategic project and secured 140 million KM for its realization during its mandate.

It gives the impression that the current FBiH Government wants to halt this project and redirect funds to other projects as a result of its condescending attitude towards the HDZ, which successfully and rapidly builds highways and fast roads in cantons where it is in power. For the benefit and right of citizens to comprehensive, timely, and truthful information guaranteed by the Constitution, the SDA and the SDA Caucus in the BPK Goražde Assembly reacted, and at their request, a point on the construction of the Hrenovica - Hranjen - Goražde fast road was included in the agenda of the last session of the BPK Goražde Assembly. At the same session, SDA representatives, through their constructive discussion and proposals, largely contributed to the adoption of conclusions that will restore hope to the citizens of BPK Goražde.

Who pays the price? Unfortunately, the citizens of BPK Goražde, who are hostages of an incompetent government. So far, citizens have heard many promises and seen little realization - conclude the SDA Caucus in the BPK Goražde Assembly.
