Job Search Club: Service Provided 1,000 Monthly Public Transport Tickets

The Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton continues with the activities of the Job Search Clubs with the aim of increasing efficiency and services. Through the Program of Active Employment Policy Measures for 2017, i.e. the incentive measure „Job Search Club“, the Service has provided 1,000 monthly public transport tickets, which will be used by Club participants to take part in the multi-week Club activities and actively search for jobs.

Funds for the purchase of monthly city transport passes have been planned for Club attendees. The Job Search Club is intended for interested unemployed persons aged 18 to 35, who have been registered with the Service as unemployed for more than 6 months, and is one of the active measures implemented in working with unemployed persons, through which continuous, professional assistance in job search activities is provided to the unemployed.

The goal of the Job Search Club is the geographical and professional mobility of unemployed persons. Active work in the Job Search Club with one group lasts three weeks, and groups consist of up to 10 participants.

The Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton has a network of five Job Search Clubs, located in the bureaus of Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Ilidža and Hadžići. Since the establishment of this active measure to date, 7,098 young people have undergone training (4,266 women and 2,832 men). Of the total number, 3,090 persons have been employed, of which 1,871 women and 1,219 men. They found jobs within 6 months, and some even during the duration of the Club program.

The Job Search Club operates in three segments:

-           Workshop for identifying (raising awareness of) skills and abilities. Through 13 topics/trainings, Club members achieve motivation, identification and improvement of personal potentials necessary for employment and/or further education.

-           Support group;

The emphasis is on self-initiated visits to employers, and group visits to employers are also organized.

-           Exchange of information on job vacancies;

After the workshops are completed, the Club leader monitors the job search activities of Club members for 6 months, during which members have at their disposal advisory services, as well as the use of the Service's computer and other equipment, for the purpose of establishing communication with employers.

The Job Search Club was created in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Youth Employment Project (YEP), and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
